Introduction

Not all webcams are used for video conferencing and rebutting esoteric arguments on YouTube and the like. Some cameras are tasked with a more purposeful duty: surveillance. The Cyber Snipa Spotter webcam is an inexpensive, well-supported camera suited for the task of constant monitoring—from a distance, even—of whatever quarry the user so desires with its upto 18x zoom. BIOS LEVEL scopes it out in this review.

Features & Specifications

  • 640x480 px resolution @ 30fps
  • 7x - 18x detachable zoom lens
  • Fully adjustable tripod
  • External button for still shots
  • Connection: USB 1.1

Packaging

The Spotter's box has not only a picture of the webcam, but a see-through window allowing a potential buyer to see exactly what he or she would be buying. The rear of the box lists in several languages some of the potential uses of the webcam. With a 7x - 18x zoom lens like the one on the Spotter, I think most buyers would be considering the personal security implementation.

The edges of the box show off some of the aforementioned features and specifications.

The full package includes the webcam, a zoom lens, a tripod, a carrying case, a manual, and a driver CD.
